Practice & Observation Hours

  • Yes. Pilates & Fitness TV can support your learning and movement development as you work toward NPCP eligibility.

However, NPCP does not approve or reject specific sources of observation or physical review hours. Instructor-training programs determine where you may complete those hours—not the NPCP.

To review the NPCP’s official eligibility requirements, including the number of hours needed, please refer directly to:

    NPCP Certification Requirements
    https://nationalpilatescertificationprogram.org/NPCP/NPCP/Get_Certified/Requirements.aspx?hkey=bc71aa1f-d2b5-4c7a-a3ba-f12b51e6a6c6

  • It depends on the school.

Each program sets its own rules for what qualifies.
Some accept external video-based hours, while others require hours learned only within their system.

Always confirm directly with your instructor trainer or program administrator.

  • Yes — for classes taught by current STOTT PILATES® Certified Instructors.

Merrithew allows students to complete required hours with any current STOTT PILATES® Certified Instructor or Instructor Trainer.

Pilates & Fitness TV features several instructors who are currently certified through the STOTT PILATES® program:

✔ Eligible P&FTV Instructors (WILL qualify for STOTT hours):

    • Jamie Casey — STOTT PILATES Instructor Trainer

    • Joana Meneses — STOTT PILATES Instructor Trainer

    • Danielle Payne — STOTT PILATES Certified Instructor

    • Joe Williams — STOTT PILATES Certified Instructor

Classes taught by these instructors on P&FTV WILL qualify for STOTT PILATES® observation and practice hours.

    Classes that do NOT qualify:

    • Classes taught by John Garey (not currently STOTT certified)

    • Classes taught by any instructor not currently STOTT certified

We recommend reviewing Merrithew guidelines or confirming with your Instructor Trainer to ensure you meet the requirements of your specific course.

  • Merrithew’s eligibility rules are based solely on the current certification status of the instructor.

Eligible hours may be completed with:

    • A current STOTT PILATES® Certified Instructor, or

    • A current STOTT PILATES® Instructor Trainer

Hours completed with instructors who are not current in their STOTT PILATES® certifications cannot be counted.

  • Absolutely.

Many trainees use P&FTV to support:

    • Movement refinement

    • Additional practice

    • Learning different cueing strategies

    • Exercise review

    • Conditioning

    • Exposure to multiple teaching lineages

It complements formal training across many methods.

  • P&FTV features a dynamic team of experienced instructors, including:

    • NPCP Certified instructors (all P&FTV instructors hold this credential)

    • Current STOTT PILATES® Certified Instructors & Instructor Trainers

    • Professionals trained through Balanced Body, classical lineages, BASI, Club Pilates, Peak and other respected schools

This multi-lineage approach reflects the breadth of today’s Pilates industry.

  • Your school or training program determines which hours qualify, not NPCP and not P&FTV.

    • Proprietary schools (e.g., STOTT PILATES®, BASI, Balanced Body, Peak, classical programs) each have unique guidelines.

    • NPCP only defines how many hours are required—not where they must be completed.

Always confirm with your instructor trainer or program coordinator.
